MECHANICS WANTED

 

Position Title:         Diesel Mechanic

Location:                     Path Transit Bus Depots

Responsible to:                   Maintenance Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

Operate within a team to provide a range of repairs and maintenance services to Path Transit’s fleet of buses.  This includes planning work, requesting parts and materials, undertaking repairs and maintenance, maintaining records of repairs and servicing and testing the adequacy of repairs and services.

 Accountabilities:

bulletConduct repairs and maintenance work on the fleet and attend breakdowns on and off site.
bulletSolved problems and achieve competent standards in trade work to meet deadlines.
bulletComplete job cards and reporting records for repair and maintenance work for each vehicle.
bulletTest all repairs and services to ensure standards are met.
bulletRequest/order parts and materials to allow the work to be completed within the deadline.
bulletEnsure fleet presentation standards are maintained.
bulletEnsure compliance with Occupational Safety & Health, Quality Assurance and Environmental policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
bulletContribute to the continual improvement in the quality of maintenance services.
bulletEnsure the workshop is kept clean and safe and all tools and equipment are well maintained and stored after use.
bulletEnsure positive communication between maintenance staff and operations staff to achieve the effective maintenance of the bus fleet.
bulletParticipate in maintenance meetings to improve the workshop effectiveness and efficiency.

Competencies

bulletRecognised qualification as a diesel mechanic.
bulletDemonstrated skills and experience in conducting bus repairs and maintenance work to a high standard.
bulletThe ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
bulletSound communication skills including the recording of maintenance information.
bulletDemonstrated people skills and an ability to work in a successful team.
bulletProven ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
bulletHold a relevant heavy vehicle license.

        

Summary of Conditions of Employment

bulletWage Rates - AUS $22.00 to AUS $25.00 per hour  
bulletWage Period - Fortnightly
bulletWorking Week - Guaranteed 38 hour week   
bulletOvertime - Time and a half for all overtime exception Sundays (double time)
bulletShift penalties - Plus 15% is paid on work done before 05.30am and after 19.00pm
bulletAnnual Leave - 20 days per annum
bulletSick Leave - 10 days per annum
bulletSuperannuation - Company contributes to an employer nominated fund for employees
bulletLong Service Leave, Parental Leave and Bereavement Leave provided in accordance with Legislation
